About Yakima Arts Academy
Yakima Arts Academy is dedicated to nurturing young artists by providing them with opportunities to explore their creativity and develop their skills. Our mission is to empower youth through art education, fostering a supportive community where they can grow both personally and artistically. What is the process to become a board member?
Interested candidates should submit an application of interest form to the Governance Committee. Selected applicants will be invited for an interview, followed by a full board vote.
What qualifications are you looking for in board members?
We seek individuals with expertise in areas such as marketing, teaching art, accounting, grant writing, or legal knowledge. However, anyone passionate about our mission is welcome to apply.
Is the board member position paid?
No, this is a 100% volunteer position. We value the dedication and passion of our board members who contribute their time and skills to support our mission.
How often does the board meet?
The board meets monthly, with additional meetings scheduled as needed. Members are expected to actively participate in these meetings and contribute to ongoing initiatives. Members also must serve on at least one committee.

Desired Expertise
Marketing & Accounting
We seek board members with a strong background in marketing to help us enhance our outreach and engagement strategies. Skills that will help us grow include: Social medial enhancement, public relations, and graphic design and marketing for website and promotions. In addition to marketing, we also welcome the expertise of accountants and lawyers who are intersted in donating their time and expertise to help us navigate non-profit start ups.
Art Education
Individuals with experience in teaching art can contribute to curriculum development and educational programming. While we always are looking for Art Educators to work with our students, we are also looking for other artists such as poets, spoken word, or musicians who might want to help us expand into other areas of art.
